Welcome, we are happy to introduce you to Filmatters!

Filmatters was created by cinema lovers. It is an online open film library, but also a filmic material exploration engine. Here, you can search at the shot level, manipulate images, and create links between works as Aby Warburg did in the 1920s.

Filmatters is also an applied research laboratory in visual culture, AI and cinema. We conduct our own experiments and collaborate with international researchers. We are open to collaboration.

The Atlas also houses Cinémateurs, cinema workshops for amateurs, and develops educational interfaces to learn how to read and manipulate images in the age of AI.
